We are a small animal practice in Nottinghamshire, first established in the 1960s. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals.
Gemma joined Buttercross in early 2013 and became clinical director in April 2017. She qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2004, initially spending 18 months in mixed practice in Lincolnshire and three years specialising in equine lameness before returning to mixed practice. She has special interests in soft tissue surgery, cardiology and ophthalmology, and leads the clinical governance team. Gemma married Nick in 2012 and had her son Thomas in September 2015. She enjoys spending time with her family, walking her Border Terrier, Tilly, riding her horse Woody, gardening and cooking. Gemma is always busy! She has also completed her American board examinations and has her LVI qualification allowing passport completion and animal exports.

Lisette joined us in January 2018 and works part time at the Cotgrave branch.
Johanna Donaldson VetMB MA MRCVS
Jo qualified from Cambridge University in 1996, and worked exclusively in small animal practice before joining us in autumn 2012. Jo has a particular interested in small animal medicine. Outside of work she is kept busy with her husband who is also a vet, three children, Border Terrier called Tess, two mischievous kittens, a guinea pig and three chickens. Jo enjoys going to music festivals and is a black belt in Taekwondo.
Rebecca Morris BVetMed MRCVS
Becca graduated from Royal Veterinary College, London in July 2017. She joined Buttercross straight away after seeing practice with us over her student years, which also meant she could return to the area she grew up in because she loves the Vale of Belvoir so much! Becca always has a happy smile on her face and enjoys cooking and baking. At home she has seven chickens and a Cocker Spaniel called Cooper, who is teaching her the ways and joys of dog ownership after growing up with seven cats!
Billy Roden BVM BVS MRCVS
Billy graduated from the University of Nottingham in July 2018. He is interested in all aspects of small animal work. In his spare time, Billy plays football and enjoys trail running and freestyle skiing.
Shameena Shajira BVSc&AH MVSc MRCVS
Shameena graduated from Kerala, India in 2012 and qualified the RCVS membership in 2016 after completing a Masters in surgery and radiology from India. Her experience includes a mixture of first opinion small animal practice, shelter medicine and few years of referral surgical practice. Sharmeena is gregarious and enjoys travelling; she is now slowly exploring work and life in England!
Charlotte Stevens BVSc MRCVS
A University of Liverpool graduate of 2008, Charlotte enjoys the great outdoors and literally "all creatures GREAT and small"! Having previously lived on a farm, Charlotte has cared for every beast known to man but has turned her focus onto the ones that share our homes and often holidays. When not wearing scrub tops and latex gloves, Charlotte enjoys all sorts of adventures with her two young daughters, Nova and Ruby, and Kitty, their home-bred terrier who is a favourite with everyone she meets. Charlotte also likes to keep fit and healthy, partaking in running activities, with hopes to complete a few half marathons very soon.
Rosemary L Watson BVSc MRCVS
Rosemary qualified from Liverpool University in 1981 and joined the Buttercross team in 1996. She works part-time and has a keen interest in feline medicine. At home she is always kept busy with a household of cats.
